As the high-profile trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs approaches its conclusion, the government’s strategy has become increasingly clear: focus on the central charges, not the celebrity names. While A-list figures like Leonardo DiCaprio and Mick Jagger were mentioned during the first five weeks, the sixth week of testimony was notably void of star power.
The trial, which began on May 12, centers on allegations of sex trafficking and violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). This past week, testimony focused heavily on the operational structure of Combs’ alleged criminal enterprise, with key input from federal agents and Brendan Paul, reportedly used as a “drug mule” for the artist.
Celebrities Mentioned, But Unlikely to Testify
Nicole Blank Becker, R. Kelly’s attorney, commented on the prosecution’s approach, telling Fox News Digital she’s not surprised big-name celebrities haven't taken the stand.
“This case is about whether Diddy operated at the top of an alleged criminal organization. Celebrities are peripheral here, not central,” she said.
Becker emphasized that the defense will likely work to distance Combs from prior witness testimonies, arguing those interactions were personal and not criminally coordinated. “Yes, celebrities may have been present during certain events, but the case hinges on proving an organized, directed criminal enterprise,” she added.
Testimony from former assistant David James revealed that Combs regularly carried “25 to 30” unmarked pill bottles, including pills shaped like President Obama’s face allegedly ecstasy. Meanwhile, a former assistant testifying under the pseudonym Mia described lavish experiences involving DiCaprio, Jagger, and wild parties in places like Ibiza and Paris. Still, when cross-examined, she admitted her post-termination texts to Combs were surprisingly affectionate.
As the prosecution prepares to rest its case, the trial shifts away from celebrity spectacle and toward hard evidence aiming to determine whether Diddy was simply a celebrity icon or the orchestrator of a darker enterprise.
