Footage Shows Tory Lanez Stabbed 14 Times by Inmate Santino Casio in California Prison

Rapper Tory Lanez is recovering from a violent prison assault that occurred earlier this month at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. Lanez, who is currently serving a 10-year sentence related to the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, was reportedly stabbed 14 times by a fellow inmate, Santino Casio.

According to news, exclusive security footage captured the harrowing scene as Casio ambushed Lanez near a stairwell inside the prison on the morning of May 12.

In the video, Lanez is seen attempting to flee while shouting for help, as Casio aggressively strikes him multiple times.

Graphic Attack Leaves Lanez Hospitalized

A spokesperson for the prison confirmed the incident took place around 7:20 a.m., and Lanez sustained serious injuries, including collapsed lungs. Despite the graphic nature of the attack, Lanez was stabilized at an outside hospital and is now reportedly breathing on his own and in “good spirits.” His team released a statement shortly after the incident confirming his recovery status.

Still images circulated online show a visibly bloodied Lanez in the aftermath, with red stains covering his face, chest, and clothes. The disturbing visuals have prompted renewed concerns about inmate safety, especially for high-profile individuals like Lanez.

Attention has also focused on the attacker, 42-year-old Santino Casio, who is currently serving a life sentence for second-degree murder. Casio has a documented history of violent behavior in prison. Following the stabbing, he was moved to restricted housing and is under investigation.

Casio later claimed the attack was an act of self-defense, alleging that Lanez had placed a bounty on him and was possibly armed. He also said that the two had previously maintained a relatively cordial relationship.

The California Correctional Institution houses over 1,700 medium- and maximum-security inmates and is situated roughly 100 miles north of Los Angeles in the Mojave Desert.
