Judge Grants Megan Thee Stallion Permission to Depose Tory Lanez in Prison
Megan Thee Stallion has won legal approval to depose Tory Lanez under oath while he serves his 10 year sentence. The deposition is part of her defamation and cyberstalking lawsuit against blogger Milagro Gramz. Although Megan can attend via video Lanez may refuse to testify as he is appealing his conviction. His lawyers insist he will not willingly participate. Meanwhile a judge denied Gramz’s attempt to dismiss the lawsuit ruling she acted with reckless disregard for the truth. The deposition could reveal key details in Megan’s case further complicating Lanez’s legal troubles.

Megan Thee Stallion Granted Permission to Depose Tory Lanez from Prison

Megan Thee Stallion has been granted the legal authority to question Tory Lanez under oath for the first time since he was convicted of assaulting her nearly five years ago. A federal judge approved the order allowing Megan born Megan Pete to conduct a remote deposition of Lanez while he serves his 10-year sentence in a California prison.

Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was found guilty in December 2022 for shooting Megan in both feet during a heated argument in 2020. His deposition will be part of Megan’s ongoing defamation and cyberstalking lawsuit against YouTube blogger Milagro Gramz, legally known as Milagro Cooper.

The judge’s ruling allows Megan to attend the deposition, which is expected to be conducted via video conference. However, it remains uncertain whether Lanez will cooperate. Since he is currently appealing his conviction, he may invoke his Fifth Amendment right against self incrimination if asked about the shooting incident. Tory Lanez regretted not testifying during his trial, but his representatives now claim he will not willingly participate in any prison based deposition.

“If you know Tory Lanez like I do, good luck trying to get him to testify,” said Ceasar McDowell, CEO of Unite the People, the nonprofit whose lawyers now represent Lanez. “He definitely did not ‘agree’ to testify now.”

Meanwhile, Cooper attempted to have Megan’s lawsuit dismissed, arguing that her statements were protected under journalistic rights. However a Florida judge recently ruled against her stating that Megan had presented a compelling case showing that Cooper acted with reckless disregard for the truth.

Further intensifying the case Megan’s legal team has also highlighted Cooper’s alleged connection to Lanez in a recent petition for a restraining order against him. With the lawsuit moving forward the upcoming deposition could be a critical moment in Megan’s case potentially uncovering new information about the alleged smear campaign against her. Whether Lanez chooses to answer questions or remain silent his legal troubles continue to mount adding another layer of complexity to an already high-profile legal battle.
