In a gripping end to the second week of testimony in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ ongoing federal racketeering and sex trafficking trial, rapper Kid Cudi, a celebrity makeup artist, and a hotel employee each took the stand on Thursday. The most startling testimony came from Cudi, born Scott Mescudi, who described a series of disturbing events he believes were triggered by his brief romantic involvement with Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura.
Kid Cudi testified that in late 2011, after Diddy allegedly found out about his relationship with Ventura, his home was broken into and his luxury Porsche was torched with a Molotov cocktail.
According to his account, Ventura had called him in a panic early one morning, saying Diddy had discovered their relationship and might come to his house. Fearing for their safety, the two fled to a nearby hotel.

Cudi testified that when they returned to his residence, Diddy was gone, but the signs of intrusion were clear. Security cameras had been tampered with, gifts were unwrapped, and his dog was found locked in the bathroom. A police report was filed that day.
Weeks later, in January 2012, Mescudi received a frantic call from his dog sitter: his Porsche was engulfed in flames. Photos presented in court showed severe damage, and Cudi said it looked like the car's roof had been slashed open to allow for the Molotov cocktail.
Although he arranged a private meeting with Diddy afterward at Soho House in Los Angeles, Cudi said it was clear to him who was behind the destruction. However, when he told prosecutors, “I knew he had something to do with it,” the defense objected and the judge ruled the statement inadmissible.
The trial will resume Tuesday after the Memorial Day holiday.
