Lizzo is opening up about her mental health struggles in a deeply personal and emotional moment shared with fans at her recent concert. During her performance at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles on March 12, the Grammy-winning artist took time to reflect on the difficult period she faced in 2023, when she battled depression and felt overwhelmed by negativity.
The “Truth Hurts” singer revealed that during that year, she experienced one of the darkest times of her life. As she shared with the crowd, the pain was so intense that she found it difficult to even face the world. “About a year and a half ago it’s so hard for me to talk about
“I was in such a dark, deep depression,” she confessed. “I was so heartbroken by the world and so deeply hurt that I didn’t want to live anymore. I was so deeply afraid of people that I didn’t want to be seen.”
Despite these challenges, Lizzo found the strength to push through and eventually overcame that fear. She described a powerful moment that helped her shift her perspective an interaction with a stranger at a concert she attended. While walking through the crowd, a fan reached out to her and said, “Lizzo, I love you.” That simple yet profound connection, she explained, was life-changing. “We hugged, and it felt so damn good,” she said. “That moment was f---ing life-saving.”
During the show, she performed a mix of fan favorite hits like Juice and About Damn Time, along with newer tracks such as Love in Real Life and So Bad, the latter released on March 13.
While Lizzo remains in the public eye for her music and advocacy, she continues to face legal battles, including multiple lawsuits from former employees alleging harassment and a toxic workplace environment. She has denied all allegations. Despite the controversy, she remains focused on spreading messages of self-love, resilience, and the power of real human connection.
