Joycelyn Savage, the long-time fiancée of R. Kelly, is firmly denying claims made by her family, insisting she is not a victim or a sex slave. In a video message released Sunday evening, Savage addressed growing public concern and media reports fueled by statements from her family, who have opposed efforts to pardon the imprisoned singer.
Savage made it clear that her relationship with Kelly is not what others have portrayed.
“I am not held against my will. I am not a sex slave. I am not brainwashed or any of those crazy lies that were told on me,” she stated emphatically.
She said she and Kelly have been together for a decade and engaged for the past three years. According to her, the couple plans to marry and hopes to start a family in the future.
Family Tension and Legal Battles Continue
Despite Savage’s message, her family through their attorney Gerald Griggs maintains they haven’t had direct contact with her in years. They say they are deeply concerned for her well-being and refuse to support any clemency effort for R. Kelly, citing his failure to take responsibility for his crimes. Savage, however, claims she’s chosen to cut ties, saying there is no hidden agenda just a strained and broken family relationship.
Savage also asked the public to continue praying for R. Kelly as he serves time for multiple convictions, including racketeering, sex trafficking, child pornography, and enticing minors. In a recent twist, Kelly claimed there was an alleged plot to kill him in prison, which reportedly resulted in a hospital stay.
Efforts to reach Savage’s family for further comment have not been successful. The divide between Joycelyn and her relatives appears deep and the controversy surrounding her loyalty to R. Kelly is far from over.
