Skilla Baby Hospitalized After Drive-By Shooting in Detroit; Authorities Investigating Motive

Detroit rapper Skilla Baby, whose real name is Trevon Gardner, was reportedly wounded in what appears to be a targeted drive-by shooting on Thursday. The 26-year-old artist was driving a black SUV along Eight Mile Road in Redford a suburban area bordering Detroit when gunfire erupted, according to reports from Fox 2 Detroit.

Sources say Skilla Baby sustained multiple injuries in the incident. A bullet struck him in the hand, while two others grazed his head and back, leading to a crash into a nearby building. Emergency services responded quickly, and Gardner was rushed to a local hospital. Fortunately, his injuries are non-life-threatening, and he is expected to make a full recovery.

Skilla Baby's Fans React with Concern and Support

News of the shooting quickly spread, sparking an outpouring of support from fans on social media. Many took to Skilla Baby’s Instagram page to send prayers and well wishes.

"Heavenly Father please bring this man a safe healing and easy recovery in Jesus mighty name we all pray amen!" one fan wrote. Others pleaded for reassurance, asking him to confirm he was alive and healing.

Skilla Baby first stepped into the Detroit rap scene in 2015 after opting out of college to pursue music full-time. His break came when local heavyweight Sada Baby recognized his talent and mentored him. By 2019, Skilla had dropped his debut mixtape Push That Shit Out Skilla, which helped him build a loyal fanbase.

His 2020 single Womack marked a breakthrough, and he continued his rise with the 2022 mixtape We Eat The Most, featuring popular tracks like "Icky Vicky Vibes" and "Tay B Style."

In a candid interview with Keke Palmer last July, Skilla made headlines for challenging the idea that Eminem was Detroit’s top rapper, instead pointing to a rotating cast of local talent that has had their moment at the top.
