Charlamagne Tha God & Andrew Schulz Warn Democrats Lack Strong Message Since Trump Defeat
Charlamagne Tha God and Andrew Schulz voiced their concerns about the future of the Democratic Party during a discussion on “The Breakfast Club.” The two media personalities agreed that Democrats have failed to find a compelling message since their defeat to President Donald Trump.
Schulz, who interviewed Trump during his campaign, highlighted the lack of a strong economic message from Democrats. He argued that focusing on class issues could help them regain voter support.
“If they make it a class issue, they win this election pretty easily, come the next election, but they’re afraid to do that because a lot of them are in the pockets of the billionaire class and the corporations, so they make it about identity politics,” Schulz said.
Charlamagne supported this view and pointed to California Governor Gavin Newsom’s recent shift in rhetoric. Newsom’s moderate stance during an interview with Charlie Kirk, distancing himself from controversial issues like trans athletes, was seen as political opportunism. “Exactly,” Charlamagne said. “But you see how quick he is to distance himself from trans athletes and stuff like that, so now it’s like, ‘Oh so you never cared, you never gave a f—. It was just all about politics for you.’”
Schulz further criticized Ivy League Democrats, claiming they pretend to care about working-class Americans while serving corporate interests. He argued that Democrats’ fear of alienating different groups prevents them from taking bold action. “There just has to be something like radical and disruptive on the Democrat side,” Schulz added.
Charlamagne predicted that unless Democrats find their footing, voters will turn to a more traditional conservative candidate in 2028. “I think that because the Democrats are in such disarray – America will say ‘You know what? Just give me a sensible Republican, just give me a traditional conservative. Give me a Nikki Haley, just somebody who is a regular conservative, I can deal with that. I think that’s what’s gonna happen.”
