Florida AG Urges Residents To Report Illegal Immigrant Exes: 'We’d Be Happy To Assist'

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has sparked headlines with his bold request to residents. He encouraged people to report ex-partners who are staying in the country illegally. Uthmeier said his office recently received a tip about an abusive ex who had overstayed a tourist visa. That person is now being processed for deportation.

He posted the update on X and said his office welcomes more tips.

"If your ex is in this country illegally, please feel free to reach out to our office. We’d be happy to assist," James Uthmeier wrote.

His post received strong support from the Department of Homeland Security. The DHS shared the post and promoted the ICE tip line. Their message read “From domestic abuser to deported loser” and included the ICE number. The DHS move shows how seriously they are taking these community tips. They want illegal residents with any criminal history flagged.

Uthmeier Aligns Florida Immigration With Trump White House

James Uthmeier was appointed attorney general earlier this year by Governor Ron DeSantis. He replaced Ashley Moody after she took over Marco Rubio’s Senate seat. Rubio left the Senate to serve as Secretary of State under President Donald Trump. Uthmeier said Florida is fully supporting the Trump team’s immigration goals.

Uthmeier has also praised the Florida Highway Patrol. He shared a post about the arrest of six Guatemalan nationals in Martin County. He warned illegal immigrants that Florida is not a safe place to hide. He believes his tough approach will make Florida the safest state for families.

Critics have raised concerns about using personal tips for deportation. But Uthmeier remains firm in his plan. His allies say it helps stop crime and enforces law. His office continues to encourage the public to speak up.
