JD Vance Says Mahmoud Khalil's Arrest Will Trigger a 'Rise' in Deportations of Illegal Migrants and Visa Holders
Vice President JD Vance said that deportations of illegal migrants and student visa holders tied to pro-Hamas activity will rise as the Trump administration expands detention capacity. Vance highlighted the 95% reduction in border crossings and stated that deportations will ramp up once border security is fully established. Vance also referenced the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University student accused of circulating pro-Hamas propaganda, emphasizing that foreign nationals do not have an indefinite right to stay in the U.S.

JD Vance: Trump Administration Plans Increased Deportations of Illegal Migrants and Pro-Hamas Student Visa Holders

Vice President JD Vance stated that the Trump administration expects a rise in deportations of both illegal migrants and student visa holders, especially those linked to pro-Hamas activities.

In an interview with Fox News' Laura Ingraham, Vance explained that deportations will accelerate once full border control is achieved. He said that the administration has already reduced migrant encounters by over 95% since Trump took office in January.

“We’ve almost accomplished complete border security,” Vance said. “So once you get operative control of the border, now you have to ramp up deportations.”

Vance blamed the Biden administration for underfunding migrant detention facilities and weakening Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which he said left the Trump administration with “a hole that we have to dig out of.”

The arrest of Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil, accused of spreading pro-Hamas propaganda, has sparked national attention. Vance argued that Khalil, a green-card holder, does not have the right to remain in the U.S.

“This is not fundamentally about free speech,” Vance said. “It’s about national security and who we, as an American public, decide gets to join our national community.”

Vance assured that deportation numbers will continue to rise as the administration builds more capacity to detain and remove illegal migrants.
