President Trump is calling for the immediate arrest of masked protesters after violent anti-ICE demonstrations exploded across Los Angeles and spread into San Francisco.
In a post on Truth Social he wrote “ARREST THE PEOPLE IN FACE MASKS NOW!”
as protests turned into riots over the weekend. Trump already ordered 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles and warned that 500 Marines are on alert at Camp Pendleton. Protests began near a Home Depot in Paramount after ICE carried out immigration raids. Protesters threw cement and rocks at federal agents leading to a police response with tear gas and pepper balls. Self-driving cars were set on fire highways were blocked and shops were looted during the chaos. The violence continued for three days and overwhelmed local police according to LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell.

Trump stated that if Governor Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass failed to stop the riots the federal government would step in. He wrote “RIOTS & LOOTERS the way it should be solved!!!” on Truth Social. San Francisco officials confirmed two officers were injured and buildings were vandalized during the spread of the unrest. Mayor Daniel Lurie said peaceful protests are a right but violence will not be tolerated.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned that Marines may be deployed if things worsen. Trump criticized Newsom’s response and said the situation in California is out of control. Protesters lit fires smashed windows and attacked police vehicles during the riots. The situation remains tense and federal forces may increase if local efforts fail.
