Trump Demands Immediate House Vote On ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ Amid GOP Stall

President Donald Trump took to Truth Social early Thursday to demand action from House Republicans after the One Big Beautiful Bill Act failed to advance during a procedural vote. Trump emphasized that the legislation contains the largest tax cuts in American history and is central to building a booming economy. He expressed disbelief that members of his own party were holding up progress.

“What are the Republicans waiting for???” - Trump

Five GOP lawmakers voted no during the measure to open debate while eight more had not yet voted. Trump’s post directly called out those delaying the bill and warned that MAGA voters are taking notice.

Speaker Johnson Vows To Keep Vote Open Until GOP Unites

The bill passed the Senate by a 51-50 vote earlier this week and now requires House approval. Many members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus oppose changes added by the Senate and are pressuring leadership to make adjustments. House Speaker Mike Johnson said he would leave the vote open for as long as needed to build support.

He confirmed the bill is too important to rush and promised all questions would be answered. Trump followed up with another post minutes later stating it should be an easy yes vote for every Republican. Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith tried to ease concerns by stating that lawmakers would eventually get behind the bill and Trump would sign it by July 4th. The bill remains in limbo as GOP leaders scramble to break the deadlock. Conservatives argue the Senate version lacks key spending cuts while moderates warn that more delays will hurt their credibility. Trump ended his message with frustration toward indecision from his allies and urged immediate passage.
