President Donald Trump has been diagnosed with a common but chronic condition known as chronic venous insufficiency after reporting swelling in his legs. The White House announced the diagnosis on Thursday following a series of tests including a vascular scan and ultrasound of his lower limbs. The testing was ordered by White House physicians after visible swelling around Trump’s ankles raised questions online. Doctors at Walter Reed Medical Center examined the results and confirmed that his veins are not working properly to move blood back to his heart.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the issue directly and explained the condition while speaking to the press. She confirmed that the swelling was related to this chronic vein disorder and not any new life-threatening condition. She added that President Trump underwent testing and the results did not show any serious issues like deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease.
White House Says President Is Not In Pain Or Danger
Doctors say this condition is not dangerous but it may cause discomfort from swelling and pain in the legs. Dr. Ali Azizzadeh from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center explained that this condition is common in older adults and does not impact life expectancy. He added that treatment is focused on managing symptoms with compression therapy and exercise.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, if left untreated it could lead to serious complications like leg ulcers or blood clots. But Trump’s medical team confirmed that his heart function is normal and there is no threat to his health.Leavitt also responded to rumors about bruises on Trump’s hands.
“They are caused by frequent handshaking and aspirin use.” - Karoline Leavitt.
A medical memo released by Dr. Sean Barbabella stated all test results were within normal range and that the President’s cardiac health was stable. “President Trump remains in excellent health,” Barbabella wrote.
